At the Intensive Care National Audit & Research Centre (ICNARC), our focus is on people who are likely to become, currently are, or are recovering from being critically ill. They work to help ensure the best possible care by facilitating improvements in the structure, processes, outcomes and experiences of critical care – for patients and for those who care for them.

Responsible for Independently discovering new ways of working and technologies and assessing their suitability for the organisation. This senior management role is responsible for the vision and strategic leadership of the teams responsible for the management SDLC, development, maintenance and support of the National Clinical Audits and CTU Clinical Trials Units Research, communications and digital infrastructure systems.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Set Business Vision, 5 year strategy and yearly business plans
  • Defined Enterprise Architecture – Open Source Software Pentaho PDI, Data Model, Atlassian Suite
  • Accomplishment team Agile mindset and working toward Business Agility for the rest of the organisation. 
  • Completed MVP (Platform X) within 7 months on time, on budget and with required quality. 
  • Implemented DevOps – CD/CI/CR 
  • Delivered Test-driven development (TDD) with automated testing.
  • Recruited and built teams of people. 
  • Achieved Cyber Essentials Certification for the organisation.
  • Achieved NHS Digital Data Security and Protection Toolkit standard for IG Governance and Compliance.
  • Maintained and renewed the approval of Section 251 of  Health and Social care Act for the organisations National Clinical Audit. 
  • Driving the release of ICNARC Case Mix Programme Dataset Version 4.0

Responsibility for the management, maintenance and governance of organisation-wide systems including (but not limited to) Clinical Audit Databases, Clinical Research Databases, Customer Relationship Management Systems (CRM), Information Systems.

Leading members of the Data and Business Technology (DBT) team (17 Total 7 Direct Line Management) in the development and implementation of communications, audit and research information systems.

Software Development – MPV PLATFORM X – Agile Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM), DevOps, Continuous Delivery, Continuous integration, Continuous deployment and Continuous releases. Functional testing, Non Functional testing Automated testing, Unit testing, Smoke Testing. Implementation of Jira Software, Confluence, Jira Services Desk, Jira Core, Bitbucket and Bamboo for Platform X (Pentaho) C# MVC .Net – B.R.A.D

Speaking authoritatively on behalf of the organisation on matters related to operations, data management, technology and communications to external service providers, suppliers and contractors. Contract tendering / procurement development and management, leading to providing a strong financial and commercial understanding of managing large contracts and budgets for teams and the ability to monitor financial performance and achieve efficiencies using business ability.

Owning and developing further the DBT strategy ensuring that it supports the organisation’s overall Business Plan.

Managing the relationships with external agencies and suppliers, ensuring contracts and service levels are negotiated in line with strategic aims and financial constraints and ongoing service is in-line with agreed contracts.

Acting as Data Protection Officer, ensuring that all users of data throughout the organisation understand their roles and responsibilities in the management of data.

Acting as the IG Lead for NHS Digital Data Security and Protection Toolkit.

Ensuring that strategy and policies remain compliant with relevant legislation and standards (including Information Governance and GDPR compliance).

Taking responsibility for system security and data integrity, and the development, implementation and proving of appropriate business continuity and disaster recovery processes

Responsible for the management, maintenance and governance of the Information Technology (IT), communications and hardware and software infrastructure.

Ensure effective project management principles and guidance are used on all internal and external projects ensuring they are completed to time and within the resources allocated.

Oversight and management of the Data and Business Technology budget and setting and manage the IT budgets, including reporting and reforecasting.
